Jonny Batie started Tin Can Catering Co. Ltd back in 2008 when impending fatherhood prompted him to review his then career which resulted in the decision to import a knackered old 1952 Airstream Safari from the US. He transferred his entire life savings into a Latvian bank account, and to his relief (and horror), a rusty old dilapidated caravan turned up at Southampton docks a few weeks later. It took a lot of work but within months he began trading at festivals around the UK knocking out rather good hamburgers. After a few years of sleepless nights, Jonny decided to move more towards corporate events, as the idea of staying in hotels became significantly more attractive than sleeping in the back of his car after a 20 hour shift.
Colin Jennings hails from deepest Essex, and is a thoroughly decent bloke. Col trained at the renowned Westminster Catering College and subsequently went on to work as head chef in some of London's finest clubs and restaurants. Since discovering the benefits of vitamin D he has decided to move away from dark basement kitchens in favour of being out in the field catering at outdoor events. He has bags of experience in fine dining and has arranged and catered for a number of large weddings.
We also have a great team of temporary staff who work for us during holidays from uni, or take holiday from their full time jobs to work with us for specific events. Rich Pyne is the elder statesman of the trio, and without question the most positive, cheery person in the whole wide world. Always smiling and happy to turn his hand to any job that needs doing - a graphic designer in a former life, he is now happier packing away his macbook pro and getting up to his elbows in work in the field...and who said you can't teach an old dog new tricks?
